What does it all mean, well, firstly, let’s put margarine aside as from looking at its production, it’s pretty much a processed food and not good for you, one of the main things we all may relate to, it doesn’t rip ya bread apart when spread
So we now have butter (milk base) versus Lard (from a pig), Tallow (from beef) and Dripping (beef or lamb). The milk used for making butter is from pasteurised milk, basically heating it up and killing the enzymes and bacteria, it has been labelled as dead food, all the good was also killed through the process. I spent a lot of time in my younger days on a milking farm and having fresh milk straight from the cow on the weeties with the cream, its a whole different taste as as well. I do prefer the straight from the cow. On a side note, if you are a farmer, you can have milk straight from the cow but cannot sell of give it away, big brother has dictated that they know your health better as far as I have read
The other 3 are more natural products with very little to no process and to ensure they are of good quality, make sure they come from grass fed animals. Now while researching this, I found out something interesting, in today’s organic certification, farm animals can be fed organic soy, grain, wheat, corn etc in the last few weeks and be classed as organ and grass fed. Farm animals eat grass in most cases so knowing this, make sure the product is from 100% grass feeders.
The question again, What does it all mean, if you want to eat natural food, do some research and don’t just believe all labels, there can be a lot of hidden detail, you are in control. Your gut health is the bases of your total health
I forgot to mention, I have not ‘as yet’ tried Lard or Tallow on sourdough bread but will to see what it tastes like, I mainly use butter or Advocado or honey, paper and turmeric.
